Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that neither Anthony Ralston nor Benjamin Siegrist will return to the squad for Sunday’s trip to St Johnstone.

Ralston is back in training this week but it was always the plan to give him a solid period of squad work before returning him to match squad contention.

Siegrist meanwhile is still suffering from a calf complaint that has kept him out over the last few weeks.

Postecoglou declared there are no fresh injury concerns coming out of the match at home to Livingston, meaning the manager has as strong a squad to choose from for the Perth visit.

Meanwhile, the Celtic boss has also been discussing the form of Kyogo Furuhashi and why he hasn’t been rotated as much recently.

Postecoglou said [Celtic TV]: “He’s been super. Obviously, it’s probably the one area we haven’t rotated as much as I normally would. We’re looking at him and his physical output – he’s still very, very strong. There’s no sign there that he needs a break.

“His work rate is phenomenal and we’re always conscious we don’t want to overburden him as we did in stages last year. He’s adapted now to the football here and the schedule and our training. He looks strong.

“Obviously getting Hyeongyu Oh in will help us in that area as he builds up his fitness. We’ll have an option there to make sure we don’t overburden Kyogo. Knock on wood, he’s just been outstanding in all aspects. I thought his game the other night was brilliant.”

It doesn’t sound like the manager is in the mood to bench Kyogo on Sunday then despite Oh’s presence, though a start for the South Korean can’t be too far away.

Perhaps next week’s Scottish Cup clash at home to St Mirren is the one to unleash him for.

As it stands, expect to see Kyogo firing on all cylinders again this weekend.
