Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has named his team for todayβs match at home vs Preston North End, per the official club website.
The full match squad is as follows:
Starting XI β Barkas, Ralston, Urhoghide, Welsh, Taylor, McGregor, Shaw, Moffat, Turnbull, Montgomery, Ajeti.
Substitutes β Bain, Abada, Rogic, Edouard, Bolingoli, Afolabi, OβConnor, Coffey, Robertson, Murray, Henderson, Hjelde.
Today is the first match since a 5-0 win over St Mirren in March 2020 that supporters will be able to watch Celtic in person. Itβs fair to say a lot has happened at the club since then, both good and bad.
Almost 2,000 lucky supporters will be in attendance for this eveningβs friendly. Itβs also the first game of the Postecoglou era at Celtic Park. For these reasons alone it is an important occasion.
Of course, the result will be mean little. But this is the managerβs last opportunity before competitive action kicks off to assess his team and tactical options.
FC Midtjylland visit on Tuesday for a much bigger match.
Postecoglou has named a mixture of youth and experience in a line-up that doesnβt look too far away from what we might see in the Champions League.
The headline news is the return of Vasilis Barkas after his hand injury prior to the Bristol City match.
Broadcast details
Todayβs match is on the Pass To Paradise service for season ticket holders.
Itβs also available to subscribers of Celtic TV.
If those two options arenβt suitable, the fixture is also being shown live on sports subscription service Premier Sports.
Fan reaction to Celtic team vs Preston
A midfield three of Callum McGregor, David Turnbull and Liam Shaw has certainly caught the eye. Thatβs a robust central force that hopefully gels together in short order.
Elsewhere there is obvious concern about the defence, which has yet to be fixed in the transfer market.
Fans are also eager to see new signing Liel Abada, who is on the bench today.
These supporters have taken to social media to share their thoughts on it allβ¦
In other news, Ewan Henderson is a big fan of Ange Postecoglou.
