Manager Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic team vs St Johnstone for today’s Scottish Premiership clash at Celtic Park.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Hart, Johnston, Lagerbielke, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, Turnbull, O’Riley, Maeda, Yang, Kyogo.

Substitutes – Bain, Haksabanovic, Abada, Holm, Kwon, Tomoki, Bernabei, Forrest, Ralston.

Today’s match is a big one after last week’s disappointment in the Scottish League Cup. With Rangers heading for a win in the Highlands, it’s imperative that the Bhoys pick up a victory of their own and continue to forge a path at the top of the table.

The manager has made four changes to the team that was defeated by Kilmarnock with Alistair Johnston making a big return alongside Liam Scales, David Turnbull and Hyunjun Yang.

Despite some strange online reports this morning suggesting he’s been absent from Lennoxtown, Johnston’s return will be of great delight to the support. Liel Abada has also shaken off injury rumours to make the bench.

Broadcast details

Today’s match is not being shown live in the UK & Ireland, with Sky Sports showing Rangers’ away fixture at Ross County.

However, overseas subscribers to Celtic TV will be able to watch on that platform.

The club platform, as well as Saints TV, are potentially the only broadcasters of the match across the world. However, LiveSoccerTV also shows a listing for S Sport+ in Turkey.

BBC Radio Scotland will be providing live audio commentary online and over the airwaves.

Instant verdict on Celtic team vs St Johnstone

This is just about the team we’d have gone for today. Turnbull coming back into the team makes sense given his effectiveness at Celtic Park.

The only real surprise is that Yang and Daizen Maeda both start in the same team. Both are most effective on the left flank so it’ll be interesting to see how Rodgers shapes up the selection.

This may well have been an enforced decision if Abada picked up a knock in training and isn’t fully 100% ready to go.

Elsewhere, it’s about as strong as can be expected given the team’s injury issues in defence. It’s a big day for Gustaf Lagerbielke and Scales – they’ll be desperate to show they should be starters next week at Ibrox.

In other news, The Kano Foundation will celebrate a major milestone at Celtic Park today.
