Celtic’s James Forrest has disclosed that he is eagerly awaiting the chance to pit his wits against his brother when the Hoops take on Livingston later this month, the Celtic View reports.
However, the Hoops winger has conceded that his family might not share his enthusiasm for the fixture.
Forrest’s brother, Alan, joined Livingston from Ayr in the summer, and when the Hoops set to face Livingston on the 19th of September the brothers could meet in competition for the first time. It is a prospect that Forrest can’t wait for.
“It’ll be strange”
“It’ll be strange playing against him. I remember when we were younger we were always looking out for each other to see if we’d maybe get drawn in the cups” Forrest said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 56, Issue 6, Page. 14).
“We play Livingston in the second game after the international break. I don’t know if the family will enjoy it, but it’ll be a great experience for both of us on the pitch” he concluded.
It will be interesting to see how possibly playing against his brother will factor into Forrest’s performance, if it does at all.
Hoops attacker will be eager to show who is better player
Perhaps it will make him improve his game by showing his brother who is the better player of the two, and as a result he will turn in a match-winning performance.
Forrest has won games almost single-handedly for the Hoops on numerous occasions over the years. It would be no shock if the game against Livingston was another one of those.
Brothers coming up against each on opposite teams is a rarity in football. Sometimes you get brothers playing for the same team – like Paul and Willie McStay for Celtic. But against each other? That is certainly a unique occasion.
The Forrest brothers’ family should be very proud that two members of it have become Scottish Premiership players. Now the only question to ask is which team will the family support on the day.
