Celtic produced a breathtaking attacking display on Sunday to blow away Hamilton Academical and win with a 5-1 scoreline.

Odsonne Edouard netted a hat-trick with defender Jeremie Frimpong and substitute striker Patryk Klimala also finding themselves on the scoresheet.

It was a magic return after a four-and-a-half month break from competitive action.

Neil Lennon’s Bhoys are ready to go for the ten-in-a-row quest and they’ve moved immediately to the top of the table on goal difference.

Our attackers, in particular, looked unbelievable with Edouard and company terrorising the visitors, especially in the second half.

From James Forrest to Mohamed Elyounoussi, we are fully stocked with quality professionals in that department.

It was something picked up by BBC Radio Scotland this afternoon, with their pundits blown away by the quality on offer.

Pat Bonner noted that the Hoops were breezing past the Hamilton defence with ease by the time the fourth goal went in, telling Sportsound (BBC live match page 17:43): “Lethal again from Celtic, they are moving the ball really sharply. They are just cutting Hamilton apart now. It’s a simple tap in again for Odsonne Edouard.”

Meanwhile, free-agent Scotland international Stephen O’Donnell was left impressed by the team’s third goal, airing his opinion live on air (BBC live match page 17:41): “It was an outstanding attack. James Forrest down the line, you’ve seen him do it over and over again.

“And Odsonne Edouard is just a sublime player. Celtic fans will be hoping he’s not as sublime over the next couple weeks so they can keep him at the end of the window.

“The ability Celtic have, they can change a game in a split second and that’s what they’ve done today. It just shows you the quality this Celtic team has”

Even journalist Tom English couldn’t help himself praising the champions, believing that Edouard has picked up exactly where he left off.

He told the BBC (live match page 17:32): “Neil Lennon will be telling his defenders to be a bit more aggressive in the air, but in attack he won’t have worries at all. They look very fit and alert. Odsonne Edouard has picked up where he left off. Offensively, Celtic look very, very good.”

With Celtic still looking to recruit in the transfer window and other players like Klimala showing real promise, it’s going to take momentous effort from Scottish Premiership teams to keep a clean sheet against us.

In other news, Celtic fans were left thrilled by the performance of Jeremie Frimpong in today’s match.
