This is bad, bad news for Celtic and Wilfried Nancy.
This couldn’t have gone any worse, with Nancy losing his first three games in charge – Hearts, AS Roma, and now St Mirren.
Celtic deserved to lose 3-1 to St Mirren in the League Cup final, as the pressure will now seriously mount on the new manager in the dugout.
The problem isn’t just the fact that Celtic are losing, it’s how it’s all unfolding, as Chris Sutton touched upon after the match.

Do you agree with Chris Sutton’s assessment on Wilfired Nancy after Celtic’s defeat to St Mirren?

Chris Sutton reacts to Celtic’s defeat to St Mirren in League Cup final
Even before Nancy arrived, all the talk was around whether Celtic would change formation, and whether it would be wise to do so, given how well things were going under O’Neill, and the heavy fixture schedule.
Sutton stated on social media that Nancy has ‘overestimated’ the level of player he has at Celtic right now, and he simply doesn’t have the ingredients to implement what he wants.
You wonder what this means for Nancy right now, because this is going to prove to be a very, very tough week for him and all associated with the club.
‘I feel for Wilfried Nancy,” admitted Sutton. “He is trying to implement a style.

What’s next for Wilfried Nancy?
Gordon Strachan conceded five in his first Celtic game, and Ange Postecoglou made a pretty poor start.
But let’s be honest, it hasn’t been this bad, and you just wonder what’s next for Nancy? And whether he can or will be sacked?
One thing is for sure: there are bigger problems than Nancy, but the fact of the matter is, he is in the spotlight, and he has lost his first three matches, including a League Cup final.
Perhaps the Celtic board should see sense and resign. And perhaps that will quieten the noise around Nancy, and the club can move forward from there.
