Welcome back, Daizen Maeda.

It was difficult, but Celtic secured a stoppage-time win over Motherwell on Sunday, and Maeda was the hero on what could have been a frustrating afternoon for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

There has been a lot of negative noise around Maeda this season because, after the 2025 summer transfer window slammed shut, he admitted that he wanted to leave the club, but the powers that be blocked a move.

You can bet your bottom dollar, with Celtic heading towards dropping more points against Motherwell, there were many waiting to give Maeda pelters.

But the Japan star, and Scotland’s PFA Player of the Year, did what he does best, and that’s put the ball into the back of the net when the champions of Scotland needed it most.

Chris Sutton reacts to Daizen Maeda’s winner for Celtic against Motherwell

Following the full-time whistle, Chris Sutton took to social media to admit that Maeda might have ‘frustrated’ many this season because he hasn’t been performing well.

But one thing critics can’t deny, and that’s the ‘commitment’ of the player, as Sutton wanted to give the striker his flowers for his headed winner.

‘Daizen Maeda may have frustrated this season,” wrote Sutton. “But never doubt his commitment…’

And then the laughing stock that is Rangers…

But whilst Celtic pick up another win, those across the road did what they do best, and that’s continue to be the laughing stock of Scotland.

Rangers drew 1-1 with Falkirk, and for those of you who have been following Sutton on social media, he has reacted the same way every time Russell Martin’s side draw, as he jibed at the Gers again.

‘Good point for Rangers…’ stated Sutton.
