Chris Sutton insists Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou needs time and patience after tonight’s heavy defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League.
The Germans were a class above tonight and deserved their victory, even though Celtic did create a number of decent chances throughout.
Sutton thinks the Bhoys were exposed but called for patience after the fixture.
Writing on Twitter, he said: “Celtic thumped by Bayer Leverkusen. Didn’t take their chances and exposed badly by ruthless Leverkusen.
“Ange has a style of play which he will stick with. I think he needs time and patience. Once the new players are bedded in though the team can’t keep making the same mistakes…”
Obviously, Ange should get time. It’d be silly to start from scratch now.
For me the question is not ‘is Ange good enough for Celtic?’, it’s ‘how bad were Celtic to begin with?’
The answer to the second question is really bad. We were miles off having a team, nevermind a squad to compete, when Postecoglou arrived.
However, we do need results on the board and that starts Sunday with a simply huge game at Pittodrie.
The manager isn’t beyond criticism and failure to take three points this week will unleash an avalanche of it. That will be hard to take over the international break.
Get it done Celtic.
In other news, Tonight already doesn’t matter but Sunday is the biggest game of Celtic’s season.
