Craig Levein’s observation during Celtic’s loss against Hearts will be a worrying thing to hear for all Hoops fans.
Hearts beat Celtic to go eight points clear at the top of the table in the Scottish Premiership.
Despite showing signs of life in the first half, it was a dreadful second half display that left Brendan Rodgers’ side at sixes and sevens.
Celtic aren’t totally out of the race, but it will be a big mountain to climb. However, Levein’s assessment suggests that things are not looking good already.
Craig Levein questions the ‘fight’ of Celtic side
As soon as the second goal went in, Celtic fell apart.
Misplaced passes became more common, the determination to win the ball back fell apart and the Hoops looked devoid of any real quality.
Watching the game on BBC Radio Scotland, the former Scotland manager was brutal in his assessment and claimed that Celtic have lost all of their fight.
Levein said: “I think the fight has gone out of Celtic” in a damning assessment of the game at Tynecastle.
Celtic cannot win if they don’t test the goalkeeper
Perhaps the most worrying statistic of all was to see that Celtic could only muster two shots on target all game.
One of those was Callum McGregor’s first half equaliser, but the Hoops weren’t able to even register a shot on target for the entirety of the second half.
It is no surprise to hear that Levein thought Celtic have lost their fight. They also seem to have lost their identity.
