Derek McInnes appears to be worried about Celtic test as he tries to keep spirits high

It’s the biggest game of the season for Hearts and Celtic this weekend, so tensions are high.

Three points for Martin O’Neill’s side would have Celtic breathing down the neck of the league leaders, who are currently clear by six points.

If the Jambos win then it would put them in a position that would be almost impossible to mess up at this point going into the final third of the season.

Hearts are without three key players due to injuries and suspensions, which has left them ‘doing a Celtic’ by trying to get some new signings through the door before Sunday’s showdown.

Worried yet, Derek McInnes?

While Derek McInnes is doing everything he can to remain calm in front of the media, it won’t fool many.

This is the hosts’ biggest test of their credentials, especially as they are facing a Celtic side growing in confidence.

It will be playing on his mind non-stop but he is doing everything he can to try and change the narrative.

He said: “It’s important that we take the challenge on.

“I’m not going to sit and feel sorry for myself – it’s important that we just rub our hands and get on with it. These things are sent to try you.

“I get there will be a lot of people doom and gloom and Celtic maybe getting us at a good time because of that. But don’t be like that, we’ve got so much going for us.”

Hearts facing more pressure than Celtic?

Don’t get me wrong, Celtic are under huge amounts of pressure to get a result and keep their transfer hopes alive.

But the fact that so many people have expected Hearts to fade away, yet they are still there, means that the pressure does get larger with each game.

Now they are coming towards the final third of the season, the narrative will change from putting up a good fight to being disappointed if they don’t do it.

It’s up to Celtic to make sure that Hearts have an unhappy ending to their story.
