Celtic face Kilmarnock this weekend and Derek McInnes seems to be preparing for the worst.

Brendan Rodgers was unhappy with Celts after St Johnstone beat the league leaders 1-0 last weekend to shock the division.

McInnes knows there are already not many holes in Celtic’s game and he reckons an “annoyed” Rodgers will have his side under strict instructions to roar back after the defeat with a strong performance.

Derek McInnes says Celtic ‘don’t have many weaknesses’

That leaves Killie in unfriendly territory and McInnes understands what to expect when he takes his side to Parkhead.

“I don’t think there’s too many weaknesses in this Celtic side,” he said. “It was a bad day for them and a good day for St Johnstone. But what we’ve got to expect now is a tough game.

“Celtic are normally at the top of the league for a reason. That result will have annoyed their manager – so we have to expect a reaction.

“But equally, I want us to be a tough opponent.”

Facing the Hoops on their own patch is never an easy task for any side regardless of league position.

But Del’s Killie have hit a rough patch and sit ninth despite a 2-0 win over Motherwell. That result followed a 5-1 hammering at the hands of St Mirren in Paisley.

Paisley and the SMiSA Stadium is no Celtic Park, though, and McInnes knows more than most having lost to the Hoops more times in his management career than any other club.

“Obviously, some games are more difficult than others, and there’s no tougher game than going to Celtic Park,” he added.

“We’ve just got to try and do a lot of what we feel we have to do when we go there. We expect a tough game, but equally we need to try and make it difficult for them.”
