Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will look to rotate and refresh his starting eleven for tomorrow night’s clash against St Mirren after a big effort at Hampden on Saturday.

The Bhoys played out a tense, physical and exciting 90 minutes in the 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock, with the brutal heavy pitch and emotions of a big semi-final apparently taking their toll on the team.

“It’s fair to say the game itself and the conditions took a fair bit out of the boys,” Postecoglou told a media conference earlier today. “I haven’t made final decisions yet but there will be some changes tomorrow.”

“Both because it took a fair bit out of the lads at the weekend and also we need to freshen up the team I feel. We will make a few changes.

“The pleasing thing for me is the guys who have been out recently Sead Haksabanovic, Tony Ralston, Stephen Welsh, and James McCarthy are all training and available. From my perspective, we have got some options there now. Alistair Johnston is good now after missing the weekend game or not starting anyway.”

Matt O’Riley and David Turnbull are both strong contenders to come into the team, as are James Forrest and Liel Abada.

In defence, Johnston looks like a good bet to start based on the manager’s comments while Moritz Jenz and Yuki Kobayashi are both available if needed at centre-back.

With new Bhoy Tomoki Iwata also training this week, we could even see his debut at Celtic Park – even if it’s more likely to come from the bench.

Postecoglou has the luxury of making four or five changes and still putting out a very strong eleven capable of winning.

St Mirren took advantage of Celtic tiredness in their victory earlier this season, but tomorrow night should be too tough a test for the Paisley outfit, all going well.
