Eilidh Barbour laughs at Kris Boyd’s ridiculous claim after Celtic’s win at Hibernian

Celtic left it late to secure a dramatic win over Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday night in a game that was a tale of penalties.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were awarded two spot-kicks, in either half, including in the 90th minute, and they were dispatched by January loan signing, Adam Idah.

But Kris Boyd felt that Hibernian should have had a penalty of their own after he claimed that Celtic left-back Alexandro Bernabei fouled Martin Boyle.

The former striker added ‘I have seen them given’, before presenter Eilidh Barbour laughed at him and asked ‘where have you seen them given?’, with James McFadden adding ‘you are clutching at straws’, as they told Sky Sports Football (07/02/24 at 10:25 pm).

As Kris Boyd was spouting his usual nonsense, Eilidh Barbour did mention ‘I don’t know why the two next to you (James McFadden and Neil Lennon) are laughing so much’.

It was clear that the former Rangers man was clutching at straws, as Celtic now have a three-point lead at the top of the table, but it’s clear that a title race is well and truly on this term.

That’s why those two Adam Idah penalties could prove to be absolutely pivotal down the line.

“I have seen them given,” said Boyd.

Eilidh Barbour then responded and laughed herself: “I don’t know why the two next to you (James McFadden and Neil Lennon) are laughing so much.”

McFadden stated: “You are clutching at straws.”

Boyd then continued whilst his fellow panellists continued to laugh: “I know what them two are going to say. You can quite clearly see that Bernabei does catch him a little bit, but you can see it right here. There you go. We are laughing, but I have seen them given.”

Barbour then asked: “Where have you seen them given, Kris?”

Boyd then claimed: “I have no doubt there will be some conspiracy theorists out there who have been moaning about them not getting them in the past.”

Celtic dragging themselves through

It was another dogged display from the team, but the most important thing is that three points were delivered.

Even Rodgers himself would admit that Celtic have been nowhere near their best this season, yet they are still sitting top of the Scottish Premiership.

Some luck is needed, in regards to the injuries, because it has been all stop-start for many, many months now and it is just resulting in too many chopping and changing to the XI.

But the supporters know that when it matters most, when those crunch moments arrive, the Bhoys turn up and produce the goods, so bring on the next few months!
