Celtic are in Lisbon for a pre-season training camp and played against Estrela da Amadora on Saturday.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t a great watch as the Hoops lost 3-2 to the Primeira Liga side as Brendan Rodgers fielded two completely different teams for each half.
The biggest takeaway for Rodgers is surely the problem Celtic have at the back when Cameron Carter-Vickers does not play.
The Northern Irishman started Colby Donovan and Auston Trusty as a pair, with the youngster solely at fault for Estrela’s first goal having handled in the box needlessly.
Dane Murray played the second period and was caught way out of position for the goal that ultimately clinched victory for the Portuguese side.
However, Celtic fans are livid with Liam Scales, who partnered Murray at Benfica’s training ground.

Celtic fans bemoan Liam Scales display vs Estrela
It’s only pre-season, and nothing is riding on these games, but Celtic fans are still picking on centre-back Scales after watching him against Estrela.
Scales played the second 45 minutes, with fans coming after him on social media platform X.
@RyanGalbraith67 said: “I can’t watch Liam scales for another season”.
@bhoysviews posted: “Nothing will ever convince me that Liam Scales should be playing for Celtic. Honking footballer”.
@maedamaestro asked: “When will the Liam Scales experiment end ITS BEEN YEARS”.

Scales wasn’t the worst against Estrela
It’s harsh from Celtic fans to single out Scales because a number of other players were more at fault for the defeat to the Portuguese team.
Donovan had a moment of madness for the penalty, McPherson completely lost his man at the corner, while Murray was hugely at fault for the last Estrela goal.
Scales did not make an individual error akin to the above, but it’s evident he looks completely out of sorts when not playing alongside Carter-Vickers.
