Celtic interim boss John Kennedy has been boosted by the presence of Greg Taylor in training this week ahead of Sunday’s match against Rangers.
Taylor has been missing since going off injured ten minutes into Neil Lennon’s last game in charge, the 1-0 defeat away to Ross County in February.
The last update on the former Kilmarnock defender came two weeks ago, confirming he would miss the Dundee United clash.
Uruguayan international Diego Laxalt has come into the equation again, though he has not been considered first-choice for large chunks of the season.
Taylor’s presence at least gives Kennedy more options against Rangers. If he’s fit enough, it seems likely that Taylor will get the nod.
Kennedy also provided updates on James Forrest, Nir Bitton and Mikey Johnston during his pre-match press conference today.
The interim boss told reporters [YouTube]: “James has been good. We had a training match last weekend as well to get more minutes in him, and Nir Bitton, and other guys who were coming back into it.
“We got some training into Greg Taylor this week as well. The squad is good. Numbers are all back pretty much. We’re missing Mikey Johnston still, but in the main the squad is strong.”
That match took place at Lennoxtown last weekend against a youthful Kilmarnock side, as we discussed at the time.

Kennedy played two different elevens in each half with youngster Adam Montgomery getting a run out from the start at left-back.
That shows you that the caretaker manager is looking for options on that flank, another reason why Taylor’s return is well-timed.
The Scotland international has a goal and seven assists for Celtic this season.
