Celtic play Hearts this weekend in a game that could determine where the Scottish Premiership title may end up.

Derek McInnes already has Celtic on his mind after slipping up again midweek while the Hoops will welcome Wilfried Nancy for the first time.

Those outside of Glasgow have been hoping that Hearts can end the spell of dominance in Scotland’s top flight and bring the trophy back to Tynecastle.

But, the Jambos are now winless in four, and there are signs that there are already that they could be conceding defeat.

Hearts left ‘surprised’ by league position

Ahead of the Celtic Park showdown, Hearts hosted their annual AGM for shareholders.

While theirs wasn’t shut down like Celtic’s, the Edinburgh club discussed the possibility of becoming champions, and CEO Andrew McKinlay admitted that they are still surprised to be in top spot, and that the thought of being champions is still a long way away.

He said: “I’ve heard a lot of chat that this season’s our big chance to win the league and all this stuff because Rangers and Celtic aren’t as good, and that to me is really interesting.

“People have not been listening to what we’ve been saying. We expect to get better and better and better and better. We are surprised this year where we sit.

“We don’t see this as a one-off. Tony said he expects to win the league within the next 10 years.

“He might have adjusted that, I’m not sure, but this is a long-term project to make us, a club and a team, that can compete year on year with Rangers and Celtic.”

Are Celtic now title favourites?

As we head into this weekend’s round of fixtures, the two teams are only separated by goal difference.

A win for either side would put them in pole position but right now, the momentum is with Celtic.

Martin O’Neill’s 100 per cent record in the league as interim manager has helped the Hoops claw back the nine-point deficit, while Hearts have looked nervous.

Right now, it feels like nobody can stop Celtic, and Sunday will be a big chance to see which one of the two are really up for the challenge.
