Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Greg Taylor will come back into the Celtic squad for tomorrow’s game against Kilmarnock.

The Celtic boss delivered an injury update ahead of the crucial Scottish Premiership tie and also said that Cameron Carter-Vickers will be back next week.

Rodgers said [Celtic YouTube], “Greg Taylor’s back. He’s trained all week so he’ll come back into the squad.

“Cameron Carter-Vickers will rejoin the squad next week so, year, we’re getting there.”

This is great news for the Celtic supporters who have seen a back four constantly rejigged due to an incredible run of injuries from the beginning of the season.

Rodgers once described Taylor as being ‘excellent‘ for his team this season and whilst the opinion of the fans on the Scotland left-back has been split, the 25-year-old will offer some much-needed stability in the defence.

Having trained all week, hopes will be high that Taylor could be fit to start but if Rodgers decides not to take a chance then Alexandro Bernabei has proven to be an able deputy over the past few games.

Despite his unfortunate mistake against Aberdeen in the 1-1 draw at Pittodrie, Bernabei has delivered good performances in the wins against Hibs and St Mirren recently.

Against Hibs, he was rated a 7.6 and made eight defensive actions, six ball recoveries and won 100% of all his tackles. [Fotmob]

And whilst Taylor overall has been fairly consistent for Celtic this season, the Argentine has put a solid case up for being given the nod against Derek McInnes’ side tomorrow afternoon.

I suppose the positive thing here is that Rodgers now has tow options to choose from whereas from the beginning of the season, it did look like Bernabei couldn’t be trusted.

It will be interesting to see which option he goes for tomorrow for the 3pm kick-off.
