John McGlynn has praised Celtic after his Falkirk side fell to defeat in Glasgow.

Martin O’Neill’s men pounced upon two Bairns mistakes in the first-half, ultimately deserving to win the game despite both teams having chances.

McGlynn’s side have now lost in all five of their meetings with Celtic this season, despite the turbulent nature of the Hoops’ season.

The Falkirk boss has reflected on the game.

Asked by Sky Sports where he felt the game got away from his side, McGlynn said: “Well, the two goals we lose in the first half. We’re caught on the ball for both of them.

“Losing so many late goals against Rangers, then, obviously, the penalty shootout last week, and losing to Dunfermline.

“So we were very much questioning the guys to respond, and they gave a go as good as anyone could have, given the stats. There’s not a lot in the stats.

“We were trying to play, we lost the ball both times, Celtic punished us, and I thought Celtic were very, very much right at it.

“They were pressing with great intensity, and our guys stood up to most of it, passed the ball well, we got into some really good areas in the first-half, and maybe didn’t [put] in a ball as good as we’d like to have…

“But then, second half, it’s 1-1, and we’ve given as good as we’re getting from Celtic.

“So I’m really proud of them. Because it’s a big question: how we’re going to respond to last week, and I’m really pleased.

“Yeah, we’re beat, but the mentality in the team is great. There’ll be teams that come here, 2-0 down, after that they would’ve been: ‘this is a four, five or six job’.

“And our guys have reacted. It’s 1-1 in the second half, a really good performance, we score a cracking goal. A lot of positives to take for us.”

The win takes Celtic level on points with Premiership leaders Hearts ahead of their Edinburgh Derby at Easter Road tomorrow.
