Celtic transfer target Cathal O’Sullivan was able to show Brendan Rodgers what he was made during the Hoops’ pre-season win against Cork City.

O’Sullivan has been on Celtic’s radar after the teenager exploded onto the scene in the Republic of Ireland and was finally given his chance to audition on Tuesday night.

Brendan Rodgers’ side ran out as 2-1 winners on the night as goals from Luke McCowan and Colby Donovan made it two wins from two in the 2025 pre-season campaign.

While Hayato Inamura caught the eye for Celtic fans, how did O’Sullivan fare and would it affect his move?

Cathal O’Sullivan has a quiet night against Celtic defence

The 18-year-old attacker started the game in front of the 30,000 supporters at Pairc Ui Chaoimh but sadly failed to set the world alight.

It was actually Inamura that was responsible for keeping the youngster at bay, pinning him back as the 24-year-old moved forward up the pitch to join the Celtic attack and cutting inside.

Malik Dijksteel was the most efficient of the forwards for the hosts and had a few chances in the first half, but didn’t trouble Viljami Sinisalo in goal.

Overall, O’Sullivan didn’t do much to impress Rodgers and perhaps showed that he isn’t ready to move to Glasgow right now.

Cork Super Cup trophy presentation cancelled after pitch invasion

On a day of celebration the game was sadly tainted at full time as the trophy presentation for the inaugural Cork Super Cup was cancelled.

Fans invaded the pitch at the final whistle and while the likes of Callum McGregor and the rest of the Celtic squad were happy to pose for photos, the stadium announcer confirmed that the trophy would be scrapped.

It’s a trip to Portugal next for Celtic as they prepare for the next two games against Estoril and Sporting CP.
