Two former Celtic strikers were on show in the English Championship on Saturday.

Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah started on the bench as Birmingham City hosted Swansea City in a Championship contest.

The former Celtic strikers have caused quite the stir in 2025 because many Hoops supporters feel that the duo haven’t been properly replaced by the club following their departures.

But whilst Celtic fans still vent their anger and frustration towards the board, it was another former player who outshone them, as Birmingham left it very, very late to beat the Welsh club and secure all three points.

Celtic hero Patrick Roberts steals the limelight from Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah

Celtic were searching for wingers during the 2025 summer transfer window, as one of their former players, Patrick Roberts, secured a transfer to Birmingham from Sunderland.

Roberts came off the bench, just like Kyogo and Idah, as he whipped in a pinpoint cross in the 94th minute for Lyndon Dykes to head home and net the winner.

It was a crucial win for the Midlands side, who are sitting outside of the play-off places, as Swansea got a taste of their own medicine after knocking out Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest from the League Cup in midweek.

Kyogo and Idah are still searching for their first league goals

Kyogo is still searching for his first Championship goal after playing 339 minutes, with several starts and appearances off the bench.

The Japan star was introduced into the action against Swansea in the 67th minute, whilst Idah, on the other end, followed suit seven minutes later.

Idah will also be eager to score his first goal for Swansea, after starting his first match in midweek, as it will be interesting to see how their careers, post-Celtic, pan out in English football and beyond.
