‘Infuriating’, ‘frustrating’ – Celtic fans have had enough of one player after Aberdeen display

Celtic looked sluggish and slow out of the blocks against Aberdeen.

Brendan Rodgers made one change from the St Mirren win as he went for James Forrest ahead of Hyunjun Yang but just like last weekend’s game, they took a while to get going.

Some still looked a yard off the pace, even though the Hoops took the lead after Kieran Tierney’s cross was tucked home by Benjamin Nygren.

Reo Hatate made sure of the win with a stunning effort in the second half and while it was comfortable, there is still plenty of room for improvement.

For one Celtic player though, he took the bulk of the blame for those who were perhaps not up to standards.

Liam Scales slammed for first half display

Liam Scales was one of the Celtic stars that impressed against St Mirren but has regularly been a bit of a scapegoat in the side.

There have been calls for Auston Trusty to start and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey will also be in contention soon and those seem like they will only grow after a shaky Scales performance.

Liam Scales has one glaring weakness in his game

It would be unfair to say that Scales offers nothing to the Celtic backline.

His aerial dominance is vital for balls over the top and the Ireland international has also chipped in with a few goals from set pieces.

Passing has always been the issue for the centre-back and that was evident a number of times throughout the first half as he gave the ball away with sloppy bits of possession.

In the first half alone he gave away possession four times and even though they didn’t concede, it could’ve been costly on any other day.
