Celtic have been crowned Scottish Premiership champions and for James Forrest, it’s an extra historic day.

Brendan Rodgers’ side officially won the league title for a 55th time after avoiding defeat against Dundee United.

Although Celtic were the favourites all season long, the Scottish Premiership is finally there’s and is the second trophy of the 24/25 campaign after winning the Scottish League Cup in December.

For some players like Auston Trusty, it’s a first league title for them at Celtic Park and in Greg Taylor’s case it may be his last.

The day belongs to Forrest though, who now sits at the top of the tree in the history books for Celtic.

James Forrest becomes Celtic’s most decorated player of all time

Rodgers is one of Celtic’s most successful managers and he can now say that he is in charge of the club’s most successful player of all time.

This title win is the 26th major honour of the 33-year-old’s career since making his debut under Neil Lennon in 2010.

He now overtakes Bobby Lennox, who was equal on 25 and the winger has chance to extend that even further when the Bhoys face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final next month.

Who are the most successful players in football history?

Forrest’s trophy haul is an impressive one for anyone affiliated to football but where does he rank among the most successful in history?

He’s some way off the current top five, though, with the winger still needing another eight to match Ryan Giggs’ tally of 34.

By the end of the 24/25 season, Forrest could have 27 trophies and should he stay for three more seasons and enjoy two-Treble-winning campaigns and a minimum of one in the third, he’d move level with Giggs.
