Celtic have kept up their hopes of securing a top 24 spot in the Champions League.
Yes, there would have been a section of the fanbase that would have been dreaming of a possible top-eight spot, but after Celtic’s draw against Dinamo Zagreb, you sense that moment has slipped by.
Three points separate Brendan Rodgers’ side in 19th and Bayern Munich in the final automatic spot – this is without Wednesday’s games being played, so that gap could extend.
Looking at the positives, it’s another clean sheet for Celtic on the road and that should be recognised.
The simple reason is that the Bhoys conceded seven against Borussia Dortmund on matchday two and they have since then kept back-to-back clean sheets.
Kasper Schmeichel joined Celtic in the summer and it has been quite an eventful start for the experienced shot-stopper – one defeat in all competitions and a few days away from his first trophy in Glasgow.
But he isn’t the only one who has had to endure that ride because his legendary footballing father – Peter – has also been through all the emotions and he was in Croatia’s capital to watch his son secure another clean sheet.
Jamie Carragher and Kate Scott love Peter Schmeichel’s analysis of Celtic’s clean sheet v Dinamo Zagreb
The conditions in Zagreb just made the game look and feel a lot worse, as this was backed up by Peter Schmeichel who was ringside for the event.
The 1999 Treble-winner noted that Zagreb ‘only had one chance all game’ and how that chance was saved because ‘Celtic have a good goalkeeper’, without jokingly naming his son.
Listening and watching on in the background, Kate Scott and Jamie Carragher cheered and applauded in the background by stating ‘yes love that’, as they told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (10/12/24 at 7:45 pm).
“It was one of these games, really, really cold,” said P.Schmeichel. “Literally, only had one chance all game. It came from a header from Pjaca. And Celtic have a good goalkeeper. To keep a clean sheet. That would be his fifth clean sheet in a row.”
Jamie Carragher then clapped and shouted in the background: “Yes, love that, Peter. Love it.” And host Kate Scott added: “We love to see it. I like that.”

Kasper Schmeichel tells his dad about Celtic’s difficulties in Zagreb
From a defensive standpoint, Celtic didn’t have much to worry about and they had their opponents under control by dominating the ball.
But there will be an element of frustration that they didn’t provide or bring enough attacking bite to proceedings.
Kasper was very honest about how Celtic just need to look at themselves for not being good enough in the final third, as he told CBS Sports.
“As you said, it was a difficult game,” said Kasper. “We couldn’t really get our creativity at the top of the pitch going. There are lots of reasons for that. No excuses. But difficult game and an opponent that played man-to-man all the way through.”
