What a week it has been for the Celtic supporters.

It all started with Celtic’s Scottish Cup win over Dundee last week, with debutant Junior Adamu scoring in stoppage time to take the game into extra time.

Then, in midweek, Celtic beat Livingston at the death thanks to another debutant writing his name in lights, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

And now Julian Araujo added his name to that list, as Celtic beat Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday, as many feel Martin O’Neill’s side can’t continue to do this.

But Jeff Stelling thinks they can, and one of the most famous sides of the past, Manchester United, have proven it.

Jeff Stelling compares Celtic’s late goals to Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United

Yes, Celtic can’t keep going 2-0 down, falling behind in games or not killing them off as quickly as they should be doing; it’s not healthy, and the defence needs to fix up.

But it can’t be argued that champions produce wins like this again and again and again.

That’s why on talkSPORT, host Stelling made the comparison with this current Celtic side under O’Neill to the Manchester United team that would ‘famously’ score late goals under Alex Ferguson.

“As far as Celtic are concerned, even Martin O’Neill said, ‘you can’t go on like this,” stated Stelling. “You can’t keep winning games like this.’ He said, ‘It’s having a draining effect on him.’

“Of course, we spoke about Hearts losing Shankland. Celtic have lost Engels, who is a massive player for them, for six weeks or so.

“I said, ‘They can’t keep doing it.’ But famously, Manchester United did keep doing it under Sir Alex in Fergie time.”

Senior players are letting Martin O’Neill down

From back to front, certain players need to get their act together because they aren’t worthy of starting.

Unfortunately, Celtic have too many games to contend with, from now until the international break at the end of March, to drop any senior players.

But not just from the Killie game, in recent times, there are some players who need to change their tune on the pitch because it’s harming the team.
