Celtic’s 3-1 against Aberdeen at Pittodrie seems to have come at a cost to the first team after the injury scares to Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate.

Both players were replaced during the win as Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers, confirmed that Carter-Vickers felt his hamstring and Hatate had an issue with his calf.

However, despite the injuries, Celtic still battled hard to take all three points back to Parkhead. Speaking post-match, Hoops goalkeeper, Joe Hart, levied some special praise to Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki as both players combined to ensure the injury to Carter-Vickers didn’t affect the eventual outcome of the match.

Hart said, [Sky Sports], “We’re quite a fluid squad I think we back everyone. I think a huge shout out to Maik (Nawrocki) today, I thought he was fantastic.

“But Welsh coming on at halftime in a tough environment. You know, losing someone like Cam (Carter-Vickers), hopefully, it’s just for this game, but that can rock a team.

“But not Welshy. He was absolutely superb when he came on. Like I say, Maik was fantastic. Yes, all those things can affect the squad but I think we’re doing brilliantly at not letting things like that affect us.”

Celtic come through tough test at Pittodrie

Celtic reclaim their position at the top of the table after today’s result but it is fair to say that there are still some improvements required.

The team were tentative in the first ten minutes of the game but did eventually find their rhythm. But despite that, there were still many unforced errors that made the afternoon a little bit more difficult.

Brendan Rodgers is undoubtedly delighted at sealing the victory. But even the Celtic manager knows that improvements need to be made if we are to successfully defend the title.

But it is still early days yet. The team are still gelling and getting to grips with Rodgers’ style of play. Performances will improve as the season goes on but let’s hope we start to come out the traps quicker than we have done over the last two SPFL fixtures.
