By all accounts, Julian Araujo might never play for Celtic again.
But that hasn’t stopped the right-back from still tuning into Celtic matches, no matter where he is in the world, as he proved for the epic Scottish Cup semi-final clash at Hampden on Sunday.
Last weekend, Celtic beat St Mirren 1-0 in the Premiership at Parkhead, and Araujo was in the stands, alongside other injured players.
But given Araujo’s injury, and how he might miss the 2026 World Cup this summer, he has returned home to Mexico, and that’s where he was watching Martin O’Neill’s side unleash chaos in extra-time.
The on-loan Bournemouth star posted a still image on his Instagram story, where he was watching the Hoops from his laptop.
At the time Araujo posted his image, Celtic were winning 2-1, before St Mirren forced extra time, and then O’Neill’s side went goal crazy.

Julian Araujo is winning over the Celtic fans
On paper, Celtic don’t need to re-sign Araujo, especially on a permanent basis, because they don’t have money to spare, given the clearout that is needed.
You have Anthony Ralston, who is effectively behind the injured Alistair Johnston and the absent Colby Donovan, yet he put in one of his best performances in a Celtic shirt.
Not only did Ralston score a brilliant goal just before the break, but he was also outstanding in everything he did, and Araujo would have enjoyed his teammate’s performance.
