Julian Araujo may have kicked his last ball for Celtic, but that hasn’t stopped him from cheering on the Hoops from the stands, as Peter Grant loved his actions.

Following the devastating news of Araujo’s latest injury setback, the defender will not only miss the remainder of the club campaign, but his dreams of playing in the 2026 World Cup this summer are also hanging by a thread.

At Saturday lunchtime, Araujo’s parent club, Bournemouth, pulled off a shock and beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium to dent their Premier League title chances.

But the Mexico international wasn’t in London to witness that drama unfold; instead, he was in Glasgow watching Celtic beat St Mirren 1-0 to boost their Premiership title chances.

Peter Grant praises Julian Araujo as he watches Celtic beat St Mirren from the stands

During the first half, the TV cameras panned to the Celtic Park stands, revealing what looked like an impromptu reunion of injured right-backs.

You had Alistair Johnston and Colby Donovan sitting in the stands, both out of action, alongside Araujo, as well as other injured parties, such as Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Donovan and Johnston are expected to be back on the pitch sooner rather than later, and it’s needed because Anthony Ralston is now the last man standing in that position.

Thankfully, as the right-backs united in the stands, Ralston produced a strong defensive display and helped the champions of Scotland keep a much-needed clean sheet.

And former Hoops star Grant was spot on when he shared some brief words about Araujo on Celtic TV.

“It’s good to see Araujo here,” said Grant. “It just shows you how much the club means to him.”
