Kris Boyd names the one thing Celtic have always had that they’re currently missing

Celtic are beginning to find their feet under Wilfried Nancy, but there is one thing that Kris Boyd thinks the Hoops are missing.

Nancy’s side made it back-to-back wins after Celtic beat Livingston 4-2 to move within three points of Hearts.

That’s seven goals in the past two games now, but they arguably should’ve had more, and put more away in the previous fixtures they have played.

It is a problem that needs to be solved and Boyd thinks that bringing in a number nine would solve all of their problems.

Kris Boyd says Celtic must prioritise a striker in transfer window

Johnny Kenny has started the majority of games under Nancy and has easily missed enough chances to have left Celtic walking away with more points than they should have on the board.

Strikers have been the Hoops’ bread and butter in recent years as the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Moussa Dembele, Odsonne Edouard and Henrik Larsson, but it is a huge issue currently,

January is a great opportunity to solve that issue, and Boyd thinks it could be the perfect solution.

“You go right back through Celtic’s history and they have always had a striker that scores goals. Right now, that’s not the case,” he said on Sky Sports.

“Celtic are still dominating and creating chances. A lot of their problems would disappear if they had an out-and-out striker who could score 20-25 goals.

“If they are to find a striker who can score goals, a lot of their problems will disappear overnight.”

Celtic may have to break transfer record to sign striker

Everyone knows that the winter transfer window is notoriously harder to complete deals and Celtic’s striker issues mean that teams will put a premium on their players.

Strikers across Europe are being linked with the Hoops, but it is quite clear that they are going to have to dip into their pockets.

£11m is the current record signing, but there is every chance that the club will have to break that record to secure someone who could score the goals required to win the title.
