Kris Boyd’s verdict on two Celtic Hampden flashpoints won’t surprise the Parkhead support

As Celtic head towards another domestic treble, the Scottish Cup semi-final win last weekend took the club one step closer to creating history.

Celtic dismantled St Johnstone in one of the most clinical Hampden performances the competition has seen.

Four goals from Callum McGregor, Daizen Maeda (2) and Adam Idah in 11 first-half minutes ended the contest just before half time as Celtic booked their place in the Scottish Cup final in May.

However, the game wasn’t without incident after St Johnstone had a goal ruled out and Hoops winger James Forrest had a Celtic penalty award overturned.

Speaking about those, Kris Boyd delivered his verdict on the incidents and what he said won’t surprise Celtic fans one bit.

Kris Boyd’s predictable comments on VAR Hampden Celtic decisions

Boyd has a reputation of being a joke-figure amongst Celtic supporters for his punditry on the club with Sky Sports.

And now that he has delivered his verdict on the two big Scottish Cup VAR decisions, Celtic fans won’t be changing that reputation for a long time yet.

Boyd told Go Ballistic, “Even on Sunday as well, Callum Scott, on that occasion, I thought the James Forrest one in real time, I thought it was a penalty kick myself, but it was a good intervention for VAR to go back and overturn that as well.

“Mackenzie Kirk, fantastic strike, as it is a poor touch from Adam Idah, it goes up, but there is a little push in the back.

“Listen, it’s one of those ones you don’t want to see goals being chopped off. But I mean, was Adam Idah getting on the other side of it? I’m not 100% sure.

“Maybe that one was a little bit dubious. But the second one, the Forrest one, was the right call.”

Boyd is completely wrong with Celtic VAR verdicts, especially Adam Idah’s

Boyd’s verdict is completely wrong.

Forrest was dealt a forearm to his face that VAR seemed to either ignore or miss after the challenge by the St Johnstone defender.

And as for his swing at Adam Idah, like Michael Stewart’s comments on the Celtic striker, it’s still baffling how the Irishman is being criticised when he was the target of an illegal challenge by a Saints player.

There has been some strange narratives doing the rounds this week as Celtic’s success continues but the fans won’t care. More silverware is on the way and it starts this weekend against Dundee United.
