Celtic’s win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup seems to have been marred with an incident no one is talking about.
Celtic battered St Johnstone inside Hampden after beating the relegation-threatened side 5-0 in the Scottich Cup semi-final.
However, it was what happened in the stands from the Perth club’s fans that has been called out by BBC presenter, Richard Gordon.
67 Hail Hail already discussed how the SFA could pile more misery onto St Johnstone after their fans let of pyrotechnics around five minutes after the Celtic kick-off.
But it seems that much more went on at that time and it seems strange that not one media outlet has spoked about it.

St Johnstone fans ‘throwing flares at stewards’ vs Celtic in Scottish Cup
Celtic fans have been hauled through the coals for their use of pyrotechnics over the course of this season but what the St Johnstone fans apparently did at Hampden has seriously crossed the line.
So much so that BBC Sportsound presenter Richard Gordon called it out live on-air.
Gordon told BBC Radio Scotland [2m 20s], “Well fair play to the St Johnstone fans, who have remained. The Saints players, who have come across to applaud them. There’s a smallish group across there.
“Right at the start of the match, just after a couple of minutes, it was horrible over there, where they let off about 20 flares and then they were throwing them at stewards.
“It was really quite a horrendous scene to witness. Thankfully that settled down, and right now they’re just applauding those players. They know they’ve gone there. They’ve given that all but my goodness, they have been well and truly outplayed this afternoon.”
The silence over the pyrotechnic use by St Johnstone fans is deafening, Celtic held to a higher standard
As previously mentioned, Celtic fans regularly get hammered by the media and pundits for their use of pyro during domestic and European games.
The illegal devices have no place in the game and rightly, they are currently banned.
However, the silence over the St Johnstone fans throwing the fireworks at stewards who are simply there to endure the safety of supporters is a disgrace and it is also scandalous that nothing is being said about it.
If this involved Celtic supporters, then you could bet that there would be plenty of headlines and criticism heading their way. The double standards on display leaves a bitter taste.
