New Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi had a phenomenal Sunday in the Scottish Premiership, banging in a hat-trick against Dundee on his home debut.
Any doubts about the Japanese striker’s ability to settle and compete in Scotland have been blown away by a performance that Celtic fans will be talking about for a long time.
The player himself is of course delighted. He’s been on Instagram tonight to post photos from the game and share a message with the Hoops support.
He said: “Feel grateful to the best fans, teammates, team staff, and everybody who supports me to enjoy football. And very happy to be part of this family. 🍀
“It’s just a beginning… work hard and together we can go higher. Arigato.”
It’s still early days of course, but everyone is excited about the Japanese talent for good reason. You don’t get many home debuts like the one we witnessed today.
If he can carry this form into the rest of the season we’re going to be in for a real treat.
Furuhashi wasn’t the only top performer today either with players such as Ryan Christie, Liel Abada, Anthony Ralston and Callum McGregor all showing quality.
For the first time in a long time we can be optimistic about the direction Celtic are heading in.
The squad needs a bit more work in the transfer window. But if Ange Postecoglou gets more of his signings in the door then we could well be formidable under his leadership.
