After strong ticket sales on Friday and over the weekend, Celtic made more seats available for Tuesday night’s James Forrest Testimonial at Celtic Park.
A look at the club’s ticketing website shows the vast majority of the bottom tier is now sold out, with tickets in the upper tiers also selling well over the last few days.
The front half of the upper tiers in the North, Lisbon Lions and Jock Stein Stands are mostly gone, with the club beginning to shift seats towards the back of the stadium. The back ten rows are yet to go on sale.
At this stage, it’s not a sell-out, nor is it heading towards that, but it will be a much stronger crowd than many thought it would be even this time last week.
It seems the combination of paydays and more promotion for the event has done the trick of convincing fans to turn out in numbers for the long-serving winger.
With the support also set to get the first glimpse of Brendan Rodgers’ team upon his return to the club, it’s a Tuesday the majority don’t want to miss.
The night will certainly feel busy and special for Forrest, who has made an incredible 467 competitive appearances for Celtic over the years.
A lot of money will be raised for charity too. A significant amount of the proceeds are set to be donated to the Kilbryde Hospice and Celtic FC Foundation.
With the club also making the announcement that Forrest will be unfurling the flag at the start of the upcoming Flag Day at home to Ross County, it truly is a brilliant week for the 32-year-old.
He deserves it, too, after so many years of service to the club that has resulted in big contributions to trophies and successes that will live long in the memory of fans.
