Liam Scales was in a buoyant mood ahead of Celtic’s must-win clash against Lazio in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Overall, the Champions League campaign has been disappointing, even Brendan Rodgers can’t hide away from that – the Celtic boss delivered team news ahead of the trip to Italy.
But two games remain and the fans want to see the Celtic players fight until the end and not crumble as they did against Atletico Madrid last time out.
Liam Scales has said what every Celtic fan wants to hear and that the team just wants to go ‘head-to-head’ with Lazio and ‘just try to outplay them’, as he told his press conference.
The Bhoys should have won the reverse fixture, but in the end, left empty-handed – and now Neil Lennon is backing them to win in Rome tonight.
Since then, things haven’t exactly been rosy for the Italian side – they suffered a shock defeat at the weekend to Serie A’s bottom-of-the-table side.

“You can have spells in games and look good, but it’s about getting results at the end of the day,” said Scales.
“That’s what we want to prove. We can play well, look good, look like we are up to the standard and actually go and win the game.
“That’s what we are here to do for the remainder of this campaign. That’s what we will try to do.
“We just want to go head-to-head with them and just try to outplay them. That’s basically it.”

Two wins needed
Regardless of what happens, that’s what the team need to focus on. Nothing more and nothing less.
Even if it means that Celtic still finish bottom. At least it’s something to use come next season.
The Champions League format changes in 2024, with more money on show, so it’s paramount that the title is delivered again.
