Barry Ferguson is in bullish mood ahead of tomorrow’s massive Celtic match away to Rangers, but still has fears regarding attacking duo Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.
In a column for The Daily Record, that reads more like a love letter to the Ibrox side, Ferguson has laid out his reasons why he thinks his old team will emerge victorious in the derby.
However, the former Rangers captain has warned about two players at Neil Lennon’s disposal; the striking duo of Edouard and Griffiths.
Their partnership is flourishing again after laying dormant for most of 2020.
With a new year starting and a new look Celtic again confident, Ferguson reckons they could do damage.
He told The Daily Record: “Yes, Lennon’s side has improved and recovered over these last few weeks but I’m not sure they’re quite ready for a test like this one yet.
“What I would say though is that any team sheet that has the names of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths written on it should come with its own health warning.

“Rangers will have to be alert to the danger this pair provide. Take your eye off either of them for a split second and they’ll make you pay.”
Deadly Celtic duo
Griffiths’ pass for Edouard to dink home against Dundee United was the kind of incisive attacking play that we need to see much more of from Celtic.
With the Scotland international fully fit again, Lennon is again investing time into a two-striker formation.
There’s every chance he throws a curveball tomorrow, but there is an expectation the two strikers will start together.

Ferguson is right to worry about their ability. Griffiths has scored two goals for Celtic at Ibrox in the past, while Edouard has six goals in nine total appearances against them.
If they’re in the mood tomorrow and we can effectively support them, there’s every chance Lennon’s Bhoys can pick up an underdog victory.
