Martin O’Neill has confirmed if new signing Tomas Cvancara will be in contention to play against Hearts this weekend.

Cvancara joined on loan from Borussia Mochengladbach until the end of the season, with an option to buy if things go well.

He can hopefully be the answer to the striker issue that has plagued Celtic and left them struggling for goals.

The 25-year-old has already trained with his new teammates and with a big game against Hearts on Sunday, O’Neill has revealed if he would be willing to throw the Czech forward straight into the deep end.

Martin O’Neill reveals if Tomas Cvancara will make debut vs Hearts

O’Neill was back to face the media after the Hoops’ 2-2 draw with Bologna in the Europa League.

There is no time to rest for the Bhoys as their hopes of retaining the league title rely on winning at Tynecastle.

It would be a big call to include Cvancara from the off, and the Hoops interim manager may have to consider it after revealing that Johnny Kenny is a doubt for the game.

He told Celtic TV: “Johnny Kenny picked up a bit of a calf strain, so we will see how that is.

“He has gone for some sort of scans this afternoon. We will see. He might be a doubt.”

Speaking about Cvancara, he admitted that the forward is ‘ready to go’.

“He trained yesterday with the B lads and trained this morning and he is ready to go,” the 73-year-old said.

“I wouldn’t want to put too much pressure on him. But let him get settled in, I think he will make an impact, and hope he does. He could start on Sunday.”
