Tomas Cvancara’s shirt number has been confirmed after Celtic announced his signing.

Cvancara joined on loan with an option to buy and fills an important gap in the Hoops’ squad.

The 25-year-old has picked the number 11 shirt to wear for the rest of the season, a number that has seen his predecessors encounter mixed fortunes.

67 Hail Hail looks back at some of the success stories, but also some of the players who have worn the shirt and how they did.

Celtic players who have been successful in the number 11 shirt

You can’t look at the success stories without starting with Bobby Lennox. As one of the Lisbon Lions, his place as a Celtic legend is already known and he can certainly be called a success story.

More recent highlights include Scott Sinclair, who was brought to Celtic Park by Brendan Rodgers to revive his career. He scored against Hearts on his debut and the rest was history.

Others who have also donned the number 11 include Liel Abada, who impressed before leaving for the MLS, former Manchester United forward Brian McClair and Frank McGarvey.

Celtic flops who wore the number 11 shirt

For every Bobby Lennox, there was also a Cha Du Ri who wore the number 11.

No offence to the defender but aside from his catchy chant there wasn’t much else to write home about.

Derek Boegritter was another Hoop who barely had any game time and was one to forget, as was striker Patryk Kilmala, who was widely tipped to be a success for the Bhoys.

Morten Wieghorst, Diomansy Kamara and Lassad Nouioui are also some forgettable names to have worn the 11.
