Celtic beat Feyenoord in convincing fashion as Martin O’Neill made history in Rotterdam.
Until tonight, Celtic had never beaten Feyenoord in De Kuip and when the Dutch side took the lead in the 11th minute, it looked like the Bhoys were heading for another defeat in the Europa League.
However, an excellent first-half fightback saw Celtic go in at half-time 2-1 up after goals from Hyunjun Yang and Reo Hatate and, in all honesty, were fully deserving of the lead.

Celtic held on in the final 45 minutes as Feyenoord piled on the pressure to record an historic win and give Wilfried Nancy an excellent chance to progress from UEFA’s second-tier competition.

Martin O’Neill’s superb praise for Hyunjun Yang after Celtic’s hammering of Feyenoord
O’Neill’s standing with the Celtic support has just risen once again after the interim boss oversaw one of the biggest results in Europe in the club’s most recent history.
And the departing interim boss told Celtic TV, “I thought they were fantastic. I thought the team were really, really fantastic. I thought that, essentially, their first real attack, they scored a goal.
“We might have been in front ourselves, but after that, we controlled the game. We were magnificent. We basically passed them off the pitch.
And on Hyunjun Yang, “He’s got natural talent. He can do some things that other players can’t do.
“He can go past players and, yeah, listen, there’s parts of his game that need tidying up, like all of us at the end of all, but he was fantastic.
“The whole team were brilliant. And to come here to win away from home, to win football matches is difficult, to win away from home, to win here in Holland against Feyenoord, it’s just fantastic. But we were terrific.”
When asked about Celtic dominating possession, O’Neill replied, “Dominated possession? Well, we’re more than a decent side tonight. But let’s listen. You can get carried away with things. Well, it was a brilliant, brilliant win.
“We scored three goals away from home having been a goal behind in the game.”

How many points Celtic need to get out of the Europa League
Celtic are now on seven points and looking good to qualify from the league phase this season.
WHAT A FINISH BENJAMIN NYGREN
It is widely accepted that 10 points plus will be enough to secure an unseeded play-off place this season.
However, if Celtic can beat Roma in December and then get a positive result in Bologna in January, it is not inconceivable that if results go the Bhoys’ way, could automatic qualification be a reality?
