Martin O’Neill is back at Celtic. Again.
O’Neill was reappointed until the end of the season after the Hoops decided to sack Wilfried Nancy.
Having taken charge of eight games already this campaign, the Northern Irishman will be returning for a second time in the 2025/26 season, and for a third stint in his managerial career.
It’s very rare that you will see managers get three separate cracks of the whip at the same club, and there are only a handful of people that can say they fall into this category.

Martin O’Neill one of the few managers to take charge of the same club three times
The 73-year-old will always be welcomed back at Celtic with open arms, no matter how long it has been.
Celtic Park will be buzzing to see the legend back again and his appearance in the dugout will see him join a list of managers few and far between.
Only Zinedine Zidane and Jupp Heynckes have been in charge of the same team three or more times, taking charge of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively.

Away from the top five leagues around the world, Chris Wilder has been in charge of Sheffield United in three different spells.
Julio Comesana holds the record though and has been appointed by Colombian outfit Atletico Nacional on nine different occasions.
Martin O’Neill on leading Celtic out for a third time

The team I would start against Dundee United is…
He said: “If ever you needed proof of anything, we’re in the results business and you have to win some football matches.
“In one aspect, it’s really nice to be back, but in other ones I genuinely do feel for a manager who’s had little time to get his feet under the table and put his plans across. But it happens and I’m here now, so I will do my best.
“The players are the most important people because they do the winning of football matches.”
