Some will argue Celtic’s luck has run out.
Martin O’Neill’s side have won several matches right at the death in recent weeks, but not against Hibernian on Sunday, with Auston Trusty’s second-half red card proving to be the turning point.
Celtic were level with David Gray’s side before Trusty’s sending off, as Michael Stewart noticed that the American didn’t complain too much about VAR overturning the on-field call.
It all stemmed from a Celtic corner when Trusty seemed to lash out by smacking the arm of Jamie McGrath.

Michael Stewart on Auston Trusty’s reaction to Celtic red card against Hibernian
The on-field referee, Matthew MacDermid, initially spoke to Trusty and McGrath, with the latter falling to the floor when he was struck.
But that’s when VAR was in MacDermid’s ear, and they advised him to check the decision on his monitor, and when he did, he opted to send Trusty for an early bath.
Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Stewart, who didn’t see a replay of the Trusty incident, stated that the player himself ‘didn’t seem to be complaining too much’, which he thinks indicates that the correct call was made.
“What I would say is that he didn’t seem to be complaining too much, as Auston Trusty has gone off,” said Stewart. “I am not sure how it still remains a corner, though.”

And then Stewart compared Liam Scales’ reaction to his penalty shout…
From that very same corner, the Celtic fans were adamant that Liam Scales should have been awarded a penalty.
Stewart then compared Scales’ reaction to wanting a penalty to how Trusty walked off after getting a red, and he seemingly suggested that it was night and day.
“Scales is very animated when you compare and contrast it to Auston Trusty,” added Trusty. “He trooped off and didn’t really complain a great deal.
“Whereas now, Liam Scales is adamant (that he should have been awarded a penalty). I didn’t see anything because there were just so many bodies in there.”
