Celtic returned to winning ways on Tuesday night in the Premiership.

Days after the poor showing in Edinburgh, Celtic put five goals past Aberdeen and opened up a 16-point lead at the top of the Premiership table.

A lot has been made of Celtic’s progress in Europe this season, but you shouldn’t also forget about what’s being achieved on the domestic stage.

Not only is Brendan Rodgers on course for a Treble, but life is far more comfortable at the top of the table as another title beckons.

A key reason behind Celtic’s progress is the improvement across the squad, from summer signings to those who have been at the club a fair while.

Neil Lennon has already given his flowers to Arne Engels, but he also wanted to give a shout-out to Hyunjun Yang.

Yang didn’t start against Aberdeen, but he did come off the bench to get on the scoresheet after a brilliant one-two with Luke McCowan.

Lennon stated that Yang is ‘another player’ who is ‘improving all the time’ under Rodgers’ stewardship, as he told Sky Sports Football (25/02/25 at 10:10 pm).

The Bhoys legend explained how the South Korean star looks ‘sharper’ and ‘stronger’ in his game and is now making a ‘significant contribution’ to the team.

“He is another player who is improving all the time,” said Lennon. “He is getting goals and getting involved in the game.

“This is a great little one-two with McCowan. Nice first touch and he slides it into the near post.

“He’s bright. Sharper. He looks stronger this year and he is making a significant contribution to the team and the squad.

“Take nothing away from Celtic (for the fourth goal). It was a 17-pass move and a spell in a game where they were totally dominant.”

Yang’s numbers and competition at Celtic

Yes, you are starting to see more from Yang, but it still isn’t enough to start games on a regular basis for Celtic.

He is competing for a starting spot in one of the strongest areas of the pitch – out wide and, in the Premiership this season, Celtic have been cooking out there.
