Celtic fans won’t have too many positives to take from an underwhelming draw away to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership yesterday.
Nicolas Kuhn scoring his first goal from the club following an intelligent assist from Adam Idah was probably about as good as things got on Saturday for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Heading into their midweek clash at Hibernian, the Bhoys remain at the top of the Scottish Premiership by three points. However, they could be level with Rangers by the time proceedings commence.
Concern is palpable among the Celtic support following two unconvincing performances on the trot, which is a pattern the Hoops need to rid themselves of as the title run-in takes shape.
Soon enough, the return of Daizen Maeda to first-team action from AFC Asian Cup action will provide a boost for Rodgers, though it was his positional counterpart who gained the majority of the plaudits in the North East.
Nicolas Kuhn delighted to notch first goal for Celtic
Former Germany Under-20 international Kuhn arrived in January from Rapid Vienna for a fee of £3 million and was labelled as someone with ‘huge potential’ by his former club’s Managing Director Markus Katzer.
Following his maiden strike for Celtic against Aberdeen, the 24-year-old couldn’t hide his delight at getting on the scoresheet, though he was disappointed his new side couldn’t get three points over the line.
Kuhn stated [Celtic FC official website]: “Of course, we wanted to win and get the three points. We had a couple of chances in the first half and we didn’t defend well because they had too many chances, especially in the second half.
“And then, of course, we wanted to get the second goal so we had to open up a bit, but we are disappointed at not getting the three points.”
“I wanted to have my actions and I’m happy that I scored my goal, but at the end, one point is not enough.”
He later added: “It was really nice; of course, I’m happy that I scored my first goal. Of course, I want to show myself and show the fans what I can do on the pitch. I hope I can get better with every game.”

Kuhn got stuck in for Celtic in his cameo appearance and it wasn’t just his attacking output that would’ve have impressed Rodgers.
Bar his goal, the former Ajax youth completed 14 of his 16 attempted passes, alongside two dribbles and a solitary key ball. Defensively, his contribution was also valuable, coming out on top in five ground duels [Sofascore].
Hopefully, his energetic approach can transcend into his future involvement in matches as the Bhoys look to keep their title charge on track.
