Celtic star Tom Rogic is receiving the plaudits of his teammates on Instagram tonight after his stunning man of the match display against Motherwell.
Rogic scored two goals against the Steelmen in the Scottish Premiership, as well as generally wreaking havoc with their defence. It was a supreme display and just his latest against Motherwell, who he’s now scored seven goals against in his career.
The Australian midfield took to Instagram this evening to share a team photo from the win, with his teammates very quick to pay tribute to his ability.
Notably, Josip Juranovic said: “Now you are Messi!”
That is in reference to the defender’s comments from December after another game against Motherwell. That day Celtic won 1-0 thanks to Rogic again.
Juranovic told The Daily Record: “Tom’s a bit taller than the original but there’s only one big Messi, he can be the little one! “He’s so good. He’s one of the best players I have played with at club level. He’s in top form this season and that can only be good for us.”
Tongue-in-cheek of course, but it just goes to show how revered Rogic is with his teammates.
The team spirit at Celtic just now is great to witness from afar. Players are talking about the squad feeling like a family and you can see that unity in the way they play.
It’s in stark contrast to this time last year when most of the squad looked haunted both on the pitch and in interviews.
We’re moving in the right direction.
