Ange Postecoglou believes the Odsonne Edouard injury exit from today’s Celtic win over Charlton was just a precaution.
The French striker was part of the second team of the day but didn’t complete his 45 minutes.
Obviously, that drew concern he could be injured ahead of the upcoming Champions League clash against FC Midtjylland.
However, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Postecoglou told The Scottish Sun: “He just felt his quad a bit tight. I was speaking to him there and I don’t think it is anything serious. It was just a precaution for him.
“He probably wanted to make sure he don’t do any real damage to it.
“It’s too early to tell for Wednesday’s game.”
Celtic need Odsonne Edouard to be injury free
While Edouard remains in the building he will be a contender to play in our biggest matches.
Having him fit, healthy and motivated for the visit of FC Midtjylland in ten days time would be very welcome.
Celtic aren’t exactly blessed with loads of striking options at the moment, with Vakoun Bayo leaving the club and Leigh Griffiths absent.
Thankfully Albian Ajeti is looking sharp in the Hoops attack and has already scored two goals in pre-season. Not only that, he’s pressing the opposition well and fitting in to Postecoglou’s tactical plan.
Right now, the Swiss striker is probably the favourite to start against the Danes at Celtic Park.
However, we have to hope that Eddy is ready for the game too. He has the class and composure to be a potent weapon at that level. Fingers crossed he makes it without incident.
