Celtic fans were all in agreement about Auston Trusty’s performance against Rangers in the Scottish Cup quarter-final.
Trusty returned to the starting XI despite currently serving a suspension for a red card he was shown in the 2-1 loss against Hibernian.
The USMNT defender was handed the rare opportunity to play in his preferred role on the left-hand side of the centre-back pairing, and rightly earned his flowers.
Why do you think Auston Trusty has played his best football under Martin O’Neill this season?
Celtic fans loved Auston Trusty’s performance against Rangers
As well as defending with his body on the line, Trusty also stepped up and scored a penalty in the shootout.
He kept his nerve and was a calming presence alongside Benjamin Arthur and Dane Murray throughout the 120 minutes.
Viljami Sinisalo was voted the man of the match by 67 Hail Hail fans on TalkingPoints, but Trusty was also at the centre of discussion.
One fan said: “Trusty was outstanding. There were a few others such as the rest of the back four and Maeda who all defended brilliantly but I thought big Auston was the best of the lot.”

A second wrote: “Trusty. A colossus.”
Another added: “Trusty, a guy who gets pelters so give him the credit when he deserves it.”
This person commented: “Trusty was brilliant.”
Meanwhile, this Celtic fan added: “Trusty as per usual gave a big game performance.”
So did a sixth supporter, who stated: “Trusty 1 million percent.”
Auston Trusty deserves to come back into starting XI after ban
Trusty still has one more match to miss out on in the Scottish Premiership but that performance at Ibrox has done enough to confirm that he should come straight back into the side when available.
Arthur and Murray have filled the gap well when called upon, but O’Neill will likely go with his tried and tested.
Liam Scales captained Celtic after Callum McGregor missed the game and the pair will reunite in the heart of the defence as all eyes become fixated on winning the title.
