Not the result Celtic wanted against Hearts on Sunday.

Looking at the positives from the game, you can look towards Celtic’s new striker, Tomas Cvancara, and how he performed on his debut.

Cvancara played just over an hour at Tynecastle before he was hooked off for Sebastian Tounekti, but not before he could produce his best moment of the match.

Pat Bonner was watching Cvancara from the stands, and he liked what he saw.

Pat Bonner praises Tomas Cvancara during Celtic’s draw against Hearts

It was a real battle for Cvancara throughout his time on the pitch, and he had very little to work with, especially in the first half.

Cvancara wasn’t helped by the fact that the likes of Daizen Maeda and the midfield were woeful around him, and Bonner admitted, just before his assist, that the new kid on the block was ‘on his last legs.’

But that’s when the loan signing from Borussia Monchengladbach showcased his one-touch play, speed, awareness and quality to help Yang put the Hoops back ahead.

And Bonner was quickly changing his tune on BBC Radio Scotland (25/01/26) because he liked what he saw.

“Superb goal,” said Bonner about Celtic’s second goal. “Under pressure, Hearts pressing them high and they’re able play it out.

“We thought Cvancara was on his last legs, but he makes that run and plays a beautiful ball across the six-yard box.”
