Celtic moved 16 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with the win over Hearts yesterday.
Of course, that lead was pegged back to 13 later in the day after Rangers struggled to a win at Dundee, but what the Celtic Park win did was bring Brendan Rodgers to within another 90 minutes of retaining the league title.
Now that there are two games to go until the split, Celtic fans will be looking forward to their fourth title party in a row.
With the games ticking down, any win will do to get the title wrapped up but former Celtic goalkeeper, Pat Bonner has shared what surprised him about the Bhoys’ win over the capital club.
Celtic’s start to the Hearts win was ‘strange’ for Pat Bonner
Despite the impressive scoreline, Celtic’s win over Hearts didn’t all go of Brendan Rodgers’ way as the early stages of the game proved.
And it was something that Bonner thought was strange despite Celtic being ‘exceptional’.
Bonner told the BBC, “It was a strange first half because Hearts had Celtic pinned back for the first 15 minutes. Sinisalo made a great save from Neilson, which was critical.
“But then Celtic got into their stride and the first goal was exceptional. Right from the back, then McGregor picked the pass for Maeda to finish.”
