Nicolas Kuhn stole the show for Celtic against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
Whilst the German rightfully got the plaudits for his performance, this was an outstanding overall display from Celtic.
What makes it even better is that the Bhoys fell a goal behind and history tells you that it’s very bad news.
Celtic have lost 27 of their last 28 matches in the Champions League where they have conceded first, but they changed that on its head.
This wasn’t just three points for the champions of Scotland, but it’s the manner in which they beat the second-best team in the Bundesliga.
In the end, Leipzig were probably lucky to leave the field conceding just three goals as the Pot One seed have now lost all four of their Champions League matches.
This wasn’t just the brilliance of Kuhn that got the team over the line, as Pat Nevin wanted to give another player his flowers.
Pat Nevin says Alistair Johnston was ‘spectacular’ for Celtic against RB Leipzig
It wasn’t so long ago that Alistair Johnston was donning the captain’s armband and now he is putting on top performances in the Champions League.
The Canada international is one of the first names on Rodgers’ teamsheet and perhaps an underrated figure within the side.
Nevin was amazed by his performance against Leipzig and how his underlapping runs are always ‘spectacular’, as he told BBC Sportsound.
“By the way, a quick word about Johnston,” said Nevin. “His underlapping so far in this game has been spectacular. It always is.
“He isn’t always getting on the end of it. But I tell you what, he is a danger in that area.”

Johnston stats for Celtic against Leipzig
Josip Juranovic was a popular player during his brief time at Celtic, but his exit hasn’t been felt because of what Johnston has done and is doing.
The 27-year-old came in just as Juranovic was leaving and he has been brilliant for both Ange Postecoglou and Rodgers since then.
Now, he is showing it on the biggest stage in Europe and probably deserves more recognition from the media because he deserves it.
Against Leipzig, WhoScored rated Johnston’s performance at an incredible 7.52.
| Total tackles | Inter | Clear | Passes | PA% | Through balls | Touches | Rating |
| 5 | 1 | 4 | 89 | 89.9 | 1 | 113 | 7.52 |
