Celtic produced a performance that will be remembered for a long time after they beat RB Leipzig 3-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Glasgow giants have had many great nights in Europe, but you have to go back to the Martin O’Neill days where they didn’t just win a huge European match, but were dominant.
Brendan Rodgers has come under fire for how Celtic have performed in the Champions League under his stewardship, but you sense something is now changing.
You wouldn’t have expected it simply because Celtic conceded seven to Borussia Dortmund not so long ago and the verbals were coming in at a brutal rate.
But huge credit to everyone at the club because the manner in which they have reacted has been outstanding, with many players stepping up.
Nicolas Kuhn started the comeback against Leipzig and he netted a brilliant brace, including a superb curling effort to put his team back level.
And now, the German is rightfully getting the plaudits he deserves, including a brilliant reaction from Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards.
Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards compare Nicolas Kuhn to Thierry Henry
Carragher and Richards work for American network CBS for their Champions League coverage and, at the half-time break, they have a ‘Heineken unmissable moment’.
They pick a moment from the games they are watching at that time and this could be anything, from a red card incident, a manager falling on his backside, or in this case, Kuhn’s special first-half brace.
In their usual style, Carragher and Richards added a bit of comedy effect to their analysis, which involved showing Rod Stewart celebrating Kuhn’s goal in the stands.
Before Richards proceeded to state that CBS have ‘Va Va Voom’ in the studio in the form of Thierry Henry, but over in Glasgow it was ‘Va Va Kuhn’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (05/11/24 at 9:00 pm).
“Time for our Heineken unmissable moment, come in,” said Presenter Kate Scott, as she built up the introduction for Carragher and Richards.
“Well, we are going to Celtic Park,” responded Carragher. “It’s the main man, off the pitch Rod Stewart who was absolutely over the moon because there was a goal from Nicolas Kuuuuuhnnn.”
“Okay, not bad,” responded Richards before he started to describe Celtic and Kuhn’s second goal. “We have got a Va Va Voom in the studio (Thierry Henry). But tonight it was Va Va Kuhn,” before the studio started laughing. “Two Champions League goals. Brilliant night for him.”

American coverage of Kuhn’s brace for Celtic embarrasses the German media
Born in Hanover, Kuhn was on the books of Leipzig as a youngster, but he didn’t make a senior appearance for the club.
He has represented Germany at many age groups from U-15’s to U20’s and he is now making a name for himself in Scotland.
But whilst America’s coverage of Kuhn’s brace was respectful and praising, the same can’t be said for those in his home country.
Bild described Kuhn as ‘German no-name’ after he embarrassed Leipzig and inflicted a fourth defeat in four games on the second-placed Bundesliga side.
