Predicted Celtic XI vs Aberdeen: Brendan Rodgers makes centre-back choice

Celtic have made the long trip north to Pittodrie as they face a struggling Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

The Dons are manager-less having sacked former Hoops player Barry Robson after a 1-1 draw with Dundee in midweek. The writing was on the wall for Robson, who will be temporarily replaced in the dugout today by Peter Leven.

Aberdeen have been woeful in the league this season so Brendan Rodgers and his charges must take advantage of their form and tumultuous week.

Celtic were very much underwhelming against Ross County last weekend – not for the first time this season – and thus, a convincing response is needed to show the fans that this squad is good enough for the second-half of the campaign.

Onto Rodgers’ potential starting XI now and the Northern Irishman is expected to make one enforced change to the side who narrowly beat the Staggies.

Polish centre-back Maik Nawrocki will likely get the nod alongside Liam Scales in the north east as a result of Cameron Carter-Vickers’ injury setback.

The American defender is sidelined for the next three weeks according to Brendan Rodgers so the former Legia Warsaw man has a run of games to impress his boss and fans alike.

Elsewhere, Rodgers won’t be expected to make any other changes. Alexandro Bernabei will keep his place at left-back as deputy to the crocked Greg Taylor.

After transfer deadline day’s departures – Marco Tilio, David Turnbull and Mikey Johnston – the bench this lunchtime will certainly look weaker than it has for a while.
