SFA confirm John Beaton for Celtic clash; officials named for crucial Motherwell visit

The SFA have named the officials to take charge of the upcoming Celtic vs Motherwell clash and John Beaton has received a prominent role.

Beaton will be the match referee for the first time since the controversial Ibrox clash where Celtic drew with Rangers 2-2 in the crucial Glasgow Derby game.

The whistler awarded Celtic a penalty in the dying minutes of the game after VAR superbly spotted a handball by a Rangers defender, and now, Beaton takes centre stage again for the important fixture in the title race.

In a statement on the SFA website, the national association have named the following officials for the crucial Celtic fixture:

• Referee: John Beaton
• VAR: Kevin Clancy
• AVAR: Gary Hilland
• Assistant referee 1: Graeme Stewart
• Assistant referee 2: Calum Spence

Celtic are currently sitting second in the Scottish Premiership table and have the chance to open up an eight-point gap to Motherwell with a win at Parkhead.
